The Backus American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly breakfast will be held 8 to 11:30 a.m., Sunday, May 11. Choice of French toast or pancakes and fried or scrambled eggs, plus bacon, sausage, coffee and juice. Everyone welcome, $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

BACKUS LEGION WINTER-SPRING SCHEDULE INCLUDES SUNDAY DANCES, CARDS

            BACKUS – Sunday cards, dances and breakfasts are among the programs featured on the winter-spring social schedule of the Backus American Legion.

            The Auxiliary’s monthly breakfast will resume Sunday, Feb. 10, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 and continue each second Sunday of the month through October. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

The annual Welcome Back Snowbirds and customer appreciation party will be held 4-8 p.m., Saturday, April 19, featuring complimentary food and door prizes. A seed, bulb and plant exchange will be held 2-4 p.m., Saturday, April 26, followed by a social gathering and a potluck dinner at 6:15 p.m.

            The post sponsors bingo three times a week. Bar bingo is played at 4 p.m. Sundays and 7 p.m. Tuesdays. Regular bingo starts at 7 p.m. Fridays until April 1 when the time switches to 7:30 p.m. Mega Bingo is played Tuesdays and Fridays.

Other regular club features include a meat raffle at 5:30 p.m. Friday; and twin cash and customer prize drawings every Saturday at 9 p.m. No purchase is necessary but winners of the cash prize, $50 minimum, must be present.

The Legion’s hall will continue to be available free for non-profit and public organizations and is available to individuals as well. For information on reservations and other post activities contact Bar Manager Becky Joy at 218-947-3156.

Both the Legion and post Auxiliary meet at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month at the clubrooms located at state Hwys. 371 and 87 West. The club’s schedule is regularly updated on its Web site at BackusMn.com.

"Where Good Folks Go For A Good Time"

Mega Bingo is an electronically linked Minnesota bingo hall game featuring large network jackpots that have averaged more than $2,000 plus an in-house consolation cover-all.

    It is played during the Tuesday bar bingo and Friday night regular bingo sessions, both of which convene at 7 pm.

    In addition to those two sessions, the Legion now offers bar bingo on Sundays at 4 pm, with the exception of the third Sunday of the month when the club sponsors its regular monthly senior dance.
