2012 Legion Activity Calendar
American Pride
Reservations are still open for the Backus American Legion’s annual Valentine’s Sweetheart Dinner Sat., Feb. 11.
The dinner features either prime rib or jumbo battered shrimp, a salad, bread, dessert and wine, tax and gratuity included, for $20 a person, served at your own reserved table. Individuals and couples welcome. Social time is 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Recorded music. RSVPs are requested. Call 218-947-3156 or 947-3416

BACKUS LEGION WINTER ACTIVITY SCHEDULE
Cribbage, 500 Cards, a Super Bowl Party,
Valentine’s Sweetheart Dinner, resumption of monthly Sunday breakfasts and St. Patrick’s Day feed and party are included in the Backus American Legion’s scheduled winter activities.
Cribbage begins Sun., Jan. 8 and is played at 1 p.m. every Sunday through Feb. 26, except on Sunday, Feb. 19, the date of the monthly dance. There is no dance in January. Sunday 500 cards runs at 1 p.m. runs Mar. 4 through April 29, except on dance Sundays (third Sunday of the month) and Easter Sunday, April 8.
. A Surf and Turf dinner featuring a tenderloin steak and skewered shrimp will be held Feb. 24th from 5 p.m. ‘til gone.
February events include a Super Sunday party at 5 p.m., Feb. 5, with prizes, beverage discounts and potluck food. Those attending are asked to donate to area food shelves. A Valentine’s Sweetheart Dinner of either prime rib or jumbo shrimp with hospitality time at 5 p.m. and serving at 6:30 p.m. will be held Sat., Feb. 11. Legion Auxiliary monthly breakfasts will resume Sun., Feb. 12, and will be served the second Sunday of the month from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. through October.
The St. Patrick’s Day Party Sat., Mar. 17, features Fran Gack in her “Me, Myself and I” musical show with a meal of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots from 5 p.m. ‘til gone.
Friday night meat raffles continue at 5:30 p.m. and bingo on Friday night after the raffle and Sunday afternoons at 4 p.m., when there are enough players - except dance Sundays.
SURF AND TURF AT BACKUS AMERICAN LEGION
A Surf & Turf dinner will be served at the Backus American Legion Fri., Feb. 2th, from 5 p.m. ‘til gone.
The dinner features a 7 oz. beef tenderloin steak cooked to order, six skewered shrimp brushed with garlic
butter sauce, baked potato, veggie and roll for $11, including tax.
BACKUS LEGION SUPER SUNDAY PARTY & FOOD SHELF EVENT
The Backus American Legion will sponsor a Super Sunday football party Sun., Feb. 5, in conjunction with an area food shelf fundraiser.
The event starts at 5 p.m. and will include potluck food, complimentary door prizes, party games, a meat raffle and beverage discounts when a customer’s chosen team scores a touchdown.
Patrons are requested to bring a main dish, hors d’oeuvre or dessert and consider either a monetary or non-perishable food donation for the Pine River and Hackensack area food shelves but it is not a requirement for attending.
BACKUS AMERICAN LEGION VALENTINE’S SWEETHEART DINNER
Reservations are now open for the annual Valentine’s Sweetheart Dinner at the Backus American Legion Saturday, Feb. 11.
This is an elegant evening for both individuals and couples featuring a prime rib or jumbo shrimp dinner, including potato, salad, bread, wine, dessert and gratuity for $20 a person. Dinner music is from a classic collection of country music recordings. highlighting pop hits of the 1960s.
Guests will be seated in the lounge during hospitality time beginning at 5 p.m. and be escorted by their waiters to individual tables in the dining area at 6:30 p.m. Suitable evening wear is requested but need not be tie and jacket.
Reservations are requested and can be made at the clubrooms at Hwy. 371 and 87 W. or by calling 218-947-3156 or 947-3416. Anyone cancelling a reservation should call as seating is limited.

available for $15.00.
We also have 4' by 6' for $20.00.
They are available in the club rooms while
the bar is open.
We open at 4:00 PM Monday thru Thursday
and at 12:00 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
